The branches of BBVA in Latin America are:
Retail Banking in Spain and Portugal: This is the area of the Group that manages retail business in Spain and Portugal. In addition to the private customer segment in the domestic market and the Corporate Banking business, managing small and medium sized businesses; this area includes the Financia Group (specialized in the financing of consumer products sales, the distribution of card products and renting activities), the e-banking business through Uno-e and BBVA Portugal development.
Wholesale and investment banking: This groups together the activities of the Group with large companies and institutions through Corporate Banking, both on a national and international basis, and Institutional Banking. It also includes the business from the treasuries located in Spain, Europe and New York, capital markets and those linked to the Stock Exchange Dealer of BBVA.
Mexico: This incorporates all business generated in Mexico, through Bancomer and its subsidiaries, including the insurance companies and the pensions manager Bancomer.
Banking in the Latin America: this encompasses the activity and results of the subsidiary banks of the Group in Latin America and of its participated companies, with the exception of the pension management and insurance companies, which business is included under Asset Management and Private Banking.
Asset Management and Private Banking: comprising the Private Banking and Pension Fund Management business carried out through the various specialised units in Spain and overseas (with the exception of Afore Bancomer, which is included within the Mexico area), as well as the business developed by investment fund managers in Europe and the trust and custody of securities. Also included are the results associated with the insurance business both in Spain and in Latin America (except that relating to Mexican insurance companies). The results in this area include the distribution of commissions and other items deriving from distribution agreements with other areas of the Group.
Corporate Activities: encompassing the business deriving from industrial and real estate participations of the Group, e-business and strategic participations in Europe, in addition to the activities and results of support units such as the areas of Resources and COAP.
