The Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Department unveiled the second Corporate Responsibility Report for the BBVA Bancomer Financial Group, this time for 2008. The report was based on two methodological grounds:
1.- The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 2.- The sectoral supplement for the financial sector suggested under the GRI.
Both are voluntary. Their use is therefore a response to BBVA Bancomer's commitment to transparency, accountability, understanding with interest groups and corporate reputation.
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is an internationally-accepted methodology that sets guidelines to standardise the content of social reports around the world.
BBVA Bancomer's Annual Corporate Responsibility Report scored “A+ GRI Checked”, the maximum GRI application level.
It is worth noting that:
• BBVA Bancomer is the first Mexican financial institution to receive this application level. This is of particular importance because it is the first time that it is reporting under the GRI methodology. • In Mexico, only PEMEX had received this application in its 2007 Report, after two years of attempts. • It was certified by Deloitte.
The 2008 Annual Corporate Responsibility Report was submitted on an interactive CD. This initiative allows us to avoid consuming 330 thousand sheets of paper that would have been used for 3 thousand printed copies of the document, a true reflection of the commitment under the Group's Global Eco-efficiency Plan to reduce paper consumption.
