a passion for society, a passion for art and culture,
BBVA Banco Francés is seeking Enterprise Certification in Gender Equity
4 September 2009
Within its Corporate Social Responsibility plans, in March 2009 BBVA Banco Francés assumed the commitment of taking part in the Pilot Programme of Enterprise Certification in Gender Equity, MEGA 2009, a project sponsored by the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism (Spanish initials INADI), which receives support and technical assistance from the World Bank. Today, the Bank is already working towards obtaining this Certification.
BBVA Banco Francés also forms part of the Red de Empresas por la Diversidad (Network of Pro-Diversity Enterprises), another INADI initiative, addressed at those companies, institutions and civil society organisations which manage diversities. Its aim is to eradicate discrimination, fostering conditions which encourage inclusion, good corporate citizenship and a culture of business social responsibility. MEGA 2009 enters this framework with the firm intention of carrying this philosophy forward to the world of Argentine enterprise.
MEGA 2009
The Gender Equity Model for Argentina 2009 (MEGA, after its initials in Spanish) is a tool which promotes gender equity in the business world and which seeks to detect existing inequalities and set up strategic measures to correct them.
Today, implementation of this kind of programmes has become not only a necessity but also a dual source of positive results, both for the company and for its people, thus configuring a virtuous circle benefiting everyone. BBVA Banco Francés shares this reality and is working on this pioneer programme to seek a better quality of life for its employees, a better working environment and the enrichment of the organisation as a whole, all of which are benefits associated with this kind of initiatives.
In order to achieve the requisites for certification, BBVA Banco Francés will undertake a broad plan which includes among its most outstanding initiatives communication and training activities to transmit the Model and disseminate this initiative among all its employees.
Hence, BBVA Banco Francés, with its nature of a socially responsible organisation, takes on the commitment of promoting equal opportunities among men and women and non-discrimination when giving access to employment, training and professional development. This Certification, moreover, involves the commitment to preventing sexual harassment and fosters the introduction of actions which assure gender equity, endeavouring to avoid any kind of sex-based discrimination or segregation.
For the Bank, participation in the programme is an opportunity to validate actions already being implemented in the organisation, as well as an auspicious space for producing new and better initiatives.
